Day 20

Tuesday, June 2, 1998

Here's the view from the back of the walkout.  We got there today as they were putting up the floor joists for the second floor.  All the interior walls are up for the first floor.  We got to wander around and check out how big the rooms actually look.  Pretty neat.  I didn't take any pictures of the walls because you'd need it to be 3-D to get the full effect.  Right now you can walk through the walls, since obviously there's nothing up but the studs right now!

Here's the other side of the walkout.  Here you get a MUCH better idea of how the subgarage works with the garage over top of it.  You can faintly see the outlines of where the exit door for the garage, and the garage window will be.  No sense cutting the wrap out just yet.

Here's the view from near where the driveway will be turning toward the garage.  You can see Larry Chalut's truck, he and his crew are a huge help to dad!

Here's the view from the front south of the garage, you can see the office window (right) the front door (center) and the double windows that will be in the great/family room.

Here's the North East corner of the house (walkout to the left).  You can vaguely make out Larry Chalut, and Eric West (one of his helpers) in the far upper left corner of the house, nailing floor joists.  Its funny because I went to school with one of Eric's sisters, Amy.  My mom was filling him in on stories about her today.  She's flip out.  Dad is on the right.

Here's dad a few minutes after that... just walking along.  Pretty darn crazy, but he's used to heights like that.  Later on he was on the back wall (walkout) like that.  You get an idea how high it is from the first picture.. can you imagine how HIGH it will be when they have the second floor walls up tomorrow? Yikes.

Here's Uncle Dave (right) and the other one of Larry's helpers.  I think I heard them say his name is Pete, not sure though!  Dave said when the other 3 guys were there today (10 total) they were working like 'beavers' throwing so much wood he could barely keep up.  He was passing a lot of wood to them.

Here is the view out the walkout at present.  Pretty amazing that we are looking out into almost the tops of the back trees already, and we're only on the FIRST floor!

Here's Dad on the top of the walkout wall.  Crazy I know.  I leaned out the french door way a bit to take this. After I did the picture out the doors.

Bob & his 2 crew are planning on starting at 7 a.m. tomorrow, they'll likely get alot of the second floor plywood up.  Then.. up with the bedroom walls!

You may want to peruse the plans again if you haven't lately.  It will help give you a better idea of what we've done so far!
