Day 52
The 4th of
July!!!
The Fourth of July weekend is always a
busy time for our family. Especially now that Dad is the fire chief
in Lexington. This year the fireworks were friday night (the fireman
stay at the hall in case their needed). We watched them from the
harbor.
On Saturday is the parade. This
year was extra special because of the new firetruck they just got.
Of course, Dad got to drive it on the maiden 'voyage' (seen above)
The new fire boat (donated recently) was
also on display.
The pastor that married us, Barry Sheldon,
and his son Andrew (seen above) road along with Dad. Jeremy Chalut
(not visible) also road along. He is one of Larry's sons, Larry is
helping us out with the house as well.
There is always lots of interesting groups
in the parade. Like the Shriner Arabian Band seem above. You
gotta love their shoes.
These ladies definitely took the cake
though. They're an entry from one of the tourist trailer parks (cottages
to most city visitors). They had their own little drill and chant,
it was pretty darn hilarious.
This is Eddie Jarosz (village president)
and his family. Bev was a teacher of mine in high school. They
used to have the boat next to us at the harbor. Eddie is also whom
we purchased our kitchen cabinets through.
This is the Fire Department's Jeep.
Keith is driving, I believe at least one of his boys is riding along in
the back, but I can't tell for sure!
This is a drummer girl I couldn't resist
taking a picture of. In most of the bagpipe and drum corps the people
are older, she sort of stood out. We get alot of them from Sarina
joining in the parade. They sound very good!
This is Croswell's old fire truck.
That's a neighboring town of Lexington. Driving is Jeff, my friend
Tonia's husband. Riding shot gun is their little girl Candice.
About 3 weeks ago they had another little girl, Emily. She's just
as adorable as Candice!
Hey MaryAnn, look! Its your kids
and brother in law! I couldn't resist taking a picture of them to
put up here! Ted must be driving. They were towing the old
pumper from the Lexington Fire Department.
Everybody was out in droves to see the
parade, even though the little bit of rain we had. Crazy people aren't
they?
After the Lexington Parade, Rich, myself,
my sister & her fiance (kara & justin) road with Mom & Dad
to Port Sanilac (town just north of Lexington) to ride in the new fire
truck in their parade. We had a ball squirting water at people, although
we DID run out of water before we got to spray a few people we knew!
Oh well, next year we'll be better prepared!
I hope everyone had a safe and wonderful
holiday. We did! Now its back to business as usual and working
on our house!!
